Shiffrin has had a difficult start to the 2022 Olympics. On Monday, the 26-year-old American slid off course around 10 seconds into the giant slalom and again nearly half an hour later in the slalom on Wednesday.
“I’ve had a lot of support over the last 48 hours,” Shiffrin posted on Facebook on Friday, “and I have to thank everyone.”
She won the slalom at the Sochi Olympics in 2014 and the giant slalom at the Pyeongchang Olympics in 2018.
