After DUI, Callie Brownson reinvents herself

Callie Brownson May 27’s blazing police lights fueled Callie Brownson’s anxiety.
She pondered about football before her arrest.

Brownson, 32, is Kevin Stefanski’s second player. Brownson started coaching high school in 2015. In 2017 and 2019, she interned with the New York Jets. In 2020, Stefanski rehired Brownson.

She feared drunk driving would ruin everything. She told police she tutored the Browns, according to dashcam evidence.

Knowing that my actions and who I am have a rippling effect. I’m determined to perform my best for so many people and women’s football.

Brownson’s family and friends helped her. She “saw sun through clouds.”

She returned to camp in late July. Yesterday was “emotional soup,” she said. Some players touched her shoulder or smiled to avoid drawing attention.
